Georgia's Story:

Once people know Georgia it's pretty much like the song... You have her on your mind. She is a beautiful, vivacious 14 year old ballerina from Alabama who was diagnosed back in 2015 with a very rare and complicated soft tissue cancer called Synovial Sarcoma and also Paraneoplastic Syndrome.

The cancerous mass was in her lungs and was causing the neurological symptoms. The Paranoplastic Syndrome is an autoimmune response to attack cancer in the body, but in Georgia's case it attacks everything good and bad and affects her central nervous system. In early August after 33 radiation treatments and 8 months of chemotherapy her scan revealed "No Evidence of Disease". Most often the neurological syndrome goes in to remission with the cancer, but with Georgia that has not been the case and she experiences extreme chronic pain every day.

Through her pain she is such an example of strength and a true fighter. She has not let her diagnosis stop her from ballet and on the days when she can manage her pain enough she makes modifications to dances so she can continue to do what she loves . Just this past December she danced through the pain and performed as Clara in two shows (modified with no jumping due to her pain) of the Nutcracker with her dance studio. She is a phenomenal little girl and such an inspiration of perseverance.
