In an ongoing effort to build a coalition of designers committed to giving back to children with their talents, we are honored to announce our chapter affiliate in Central Texas.

Give a warm, savvy welcome to Chapter leaders, Theresa Naramore and Cheryl Green, of Twin Sisters Interiors in San Antonio and Boerne. Here's a little more about Theresa and Cheryl, and their passion for joining us here.

Theresa and Cheryl’s Story:

“We are twin sisters Theresa Naramore and Cheryl Green, owners of Twin Sisters Home and Flooring.  Although we have always had a passion for interior design, we pursued careers in finance and sales after college.  We worked for Fortune 500 companies and achieved success, but craved a creative outlet. Once we began our families and started raising children, we needed flexibility in our schedules to attend bike rodeos and field trips with our children.

We took a leap of faith and decided to leave the security of our jobs to start our own decorating firm. Supportive family, friends, and clients helped build our business through word of mouth. Our company has grown and evolved year after year.  Theresa has carpentry in her blood, passed down from her father and grandfather. She loves to build custom furniture, wood art, and barn doors for her clients. Cheryl is a gifted and accomplished artist. Her work has been displayed in galleries and clients’ homes lucky enough to acquire her paintings.  She teaches painting classes in her spare time.

Our portfolio includes remodels and new construction in both residential and large scale commercial projects.  Each presents its own unique set of challenges, and we often feel our true calling may be counselors, mediators, and babysitters!

Our ‘Why’

Recently, a friend of ours had a child diagnosed with cancer....every parent’s worst nightmare.  We talked about what we could do to help the family and decided that a room makeover would be just the thing to raise this little girl’s spirits.  There were lots more families around us also experiencing medical crises and we wanted to help more of them.

As we researched the process to start a non-profit organization to help as many families as we could, we became overwhelmed by the daunting paperwork and legal requirements.  That could have been the end of our dream to help children, but there was a greater plan. A Houzz newsletter came across our email, like it had every single day before, but this article caught our eye. There was a firm in San Diego doing just what we hoped to do AND they were looking to help other chapters get started across the country!  Coincidence? Not a chance.

We reached out to Savvy Giving By Design and it’s founder, Susan Wintersteen, that very day. After speaking with Susan, we realized our mission and vision perfectly aligned with the organization she founded. We feel so blessed and could not be more thrilled to bring Savvy Giving By Design to Texas!”

Please help to spread the word by sending this link along to your Central Texas friends and encourage them to join the local Facebook group to meet more deserving families, supply more fund-a-needs, and make a difference in their community.

Our organization runs on donations. To support the SGBD Central Texas Chapter, please make a donation here!
