The Savvy Giving Design Coalition

Small Contributions. Big Impact. Transforming Lives Through Design.

When a child faces a medical crisis, their surroundings can profoundly impact their healing process. The Savvy Giving Design Coalition is a national community of designers and design allies committed to creating healing spaces for children—one room, one family, one life at a time.

By joining, you’re not only helping families in need, but you’re also gaining access to a network of professionals who believe in using design for good. Together, we amplify each other’s impact.

1. Small Donations, Big Impact

Your micro-donation, combined with those from hundreds of other design professionals, funds room makeovers for children facing medical crises. Together, we create a powerful, positive impact through the transformative power of design.

How it Works

  • We use social media, design blogs, podcasts, and industry events to promote the program. But the most effective tool for building the coalition - and the ultimate goal - is to have a thousand individual spheres of influence around the country. Where designers who want to give back philanthropically invite their friends into a community of like-minded designers who also recognize the power of design in a child’s healing process. Together, members of this national coalition will then be part of an impactful, momentum-building crowd-sourcing forum with opportunities for collaboration, sharing of resources, recognition and best-practices support from vendors and other industry partners.

  • We have a referral system for receiving and vetting applications for children in medical crisis. Transparent selection criteria and local design teams manage each project after receiving best practices training in Trauma-Informed Design from Savvy Giving.

  • One Coalition member-designer will be selected for each specific project based on proximity to the child's home and best fit for the project. We will meticulously track expenses to ensure efficient use of funds and seek in-kind donations from partner brands to stretch our budget further.

  • We document each project with before-and-after photos, videos, and stories, providing regular reports to members showcasing the impact of their contributions. Feedback from recipients and designers helps us continuously improve the program.

  • Kali Sudbrook, Beachside Interiors

During a health crisis, children have no autonomy, no ability to improve their surroundings that could aide in their comfort, health, or healing. My heart goes out to these kids who don’t deserve the cards they were dealt, but they DO deserve to have a thoughtful, intentional space that sets them up for success to heal- mentally, physically, and emotionally.

  • Constance Hall, Constance Hall Design

I work by myself, so I don’t get to collaborate with other designers. This is a joyful way to have a project with people who love design as much as I do.
